Well we all know my favorite holiday is St Pats and I think the same goes for everyone else who grew up Irish in Emmetsburg. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the annual celebration in E'burg and my Grandpa Dunigan was one of the founders of the annual St Pats celebration in Emmetsburg. I've heard many stories of painting the streets green, green beer, and the craziness that went on at my grandpa's irish bar in the 60s and 70s. Sounds like it would have been a fun time! My Grandpa Dunigan was named Grand Marshall in the St Pats parade in 1997. I can still see him in his green derby hat that he always wore and wish I had a pic of him here so I could post it!
Anyway, Baby G is all set for her first St Pats celebration. We have accumulated quite a few St Pats outfits recently and it looks like she will be celebrating and wearing her green all that week. Today in the mail we received the best outfit yet....thanks to Aunt B.! Brett (who's apparently quite crafty) made Baby G a little Irish tutu which is absolutley adorable. I cannot wait to put it on her! I posted some pics above! Since my Grandma Rick and the rest of the Shady Ladys have retired from the parade this year, Brett and a few of her friends have decided to take their place and carry on the traditon as The Sassy Lassys. Brett's naming Baby G as an honorary member of the Sassy Lassys and is calling her their Little Lassy. I will have to get a pic of her in her new outfit along with the rest of the Sassys in their new parade attire. Thanks Aunt B. for the gift! You should make them and sell them at the St Pats Assoc.!
St Pats is only 7 weeks from today! The countdown is ON!
